We spoke with Kelly Moran, CFO, consultant, and business owner, to discuss female presence in finance positions, the latest trends in finance, and her take on what is ahead in 2023.
About Kelly Moran:
Kelly Moran is a freelance accountant and founder of Moran Financial Consulting. Kelly provides financial consulting services to middle-market companies. She helps businesses develop timely and accurate financial information and streamline processes. Kelly specializes in technical accounting issues such as debt modifications, purchase accounting, and consolidations.
Kelly highlights the following experiences:
- Served as the Interim Controller for a non-profit company that needed support building analytics and streamlining their monthly close
- Currently leads the accounting team for a $100M manufacturing company.
- She partnered with a private equity-owned company to assist in a cash-to-accrual conversion, purchase accounting, continually integrating M&A activity, developing consolidated financial statements, and implementing a consolidating software and forecasting process.
- In 2022, she won the Inspirational Performance Award from one of her clients.
Kelly was an Audit Senior Manager at RSM US LLP, specializing in middle-market manufacturing and commercial businesses. Before self-employment, Kelly received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Purdue University. She also passed the CPA examination and was licensed until 2022. She was nominated in 2017 and 2019 for RSM’s First Choice Advisor Award.
