At EBM Software, getting to know our employees is the best way to understand who we are. This month we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Franck. Learn more about his background and what drew him to EBM Software!

Can you tell us a little more about yourself? (Where you are from, where did you go to school, any hobbies, etc.?)

I grew up on a dairy farm in ND.  The initial plan was to work for the FBI.  At the time, the FBI was seeking candidates that had military service and a degree in accounting, computer information systems or law.  I joined the US Army and obtained Bachelor Degrees from Moorhead State University in Accounting and Computer Information Systems.  A hiring freeze at the FBI, rerouted my career toward developing software in the finance/accounting realm.  When not at work, you will find me at my kids’ sporting activities or preparing for my next marathon.

Can you tell us a little bit more about your role?

Like any Director of Applications Development, my role encompasses the planning, assigning and directing computer applications program design, development and implementation.  What makes this role at EBM Software special is seeing the results our clients achieve by the visibility and insights reinforced through proactive planning and forecasting that our solutions provide.

What’s the best piece of advice anyone has ever given to you?

Attitude and effort are key ingredients for success.  Throughout my childhood my father often said, “You will be successful in whatever you choose to do as long as you have a positive attitude and the will to give your best effort.”

Who is your role model or someone that has influenced you the most?

The person that has had the greatest influence on me is my father, Markus.  Growing up on a farm, I had the privilege of working with my Dad for twelve years.  He taught me countless things like how to milk a cow, grind feed, fix fences and harvest crops.  However, the most valuable lessons were witnessed not taught.  I saw the value of patience and results of working hard.

What is your favorite quote that truly resonates/motivates you? Why?

My favorite quote is “Hard work beats talent, when talent does not work hard” -Tim Notke.  I believe one’s success in life is primarily dependent upon what you do with the talent you have, not the talent you have been given.

What drew you to EBM Software and what do you enjoy most about working here?

When the company founders presented the vision and strategy of building software solutions that provide the data visibility, accountability and coordination required for companies to make a step change in performance, I was sold.  What keeps me at EBM Software are the people.  When you work with passionate, driven and intelligent people, you never know what you are going to learn.
