At EBM Software, getting to know our employees is the best way to understand who we are. This month we’d like to introduce you to David Rogers, Senior Application Developer. Learn more about his background and what drew him to EBM Software!

Can you tell us a little more about yourself?

I grew up in Minnetonka, and lived there for most of my life.  I’ve always been developing software and programming since a young age, my first computer was a 486. I attended NDSU for my bachelors in Computer Science. Minored in Spanish at NDSU, and attended an immersion school in Cusco Peru. Learning other languages and spending time in different cultures is something I’ve always found enjoyable

Can you tell us a little bit more about your role?

I serve as one of the senior application developers here at EBM Software. The role allows me to wear all hats, I get to do a little bit of everything, from UI and Database development, to DevOps and Automated testing. I’m involved in nearly all aspects of the development of our product.

What’s the best piece of advice anyone has ever given to you?

My mother would say that you always “reap what you sow”, which in retrospect was good advice. The concept of investing in the future is one that I believe is extremely relevant both professionally and personally.

Who is your role model and has influenced you the most?

My wife is a guiding figure in my life and has helped me over the years to face difficult circumstances and always keep striving to be a better person. She’s my better half and always provides love and support for my every endeavor.

What is your favorite quote, movie, book, or song that truly resonates or motivated you?

Continuous Delivery by David Farley and Jez Humble is my favorite work-related book. A lot of the concepts discussed are extremely relevant to the industry I work in, and it provides a road map to creating and improving all types of software. Many of the lesson discussed in that book have already been implemented in our solution, allowing us to deliver greater value to our clients at a much quicker pace.

What drew you to EBM Software and what do you enjoy most about working here?

Principally it was the passion that the folks here had about the product. I really love working on software that does something innovative or new. EBM Software had a set of features, that initially, I had never worked with, once I started working with our Data Cubes I knew we had something that could deliver a whole new level of insight.

I enjoy working with people who are passionate, and genuinely care about what they are working on. The team here at EBM is great and is probably the thing I enjoy most is working with them.
