At EBM Software, getting to know our employees is the best way to understand who we are. This month we’d like to introduce you to Dan Pesek, Sr. Financial Analyst. Learn more about his background, and what drew him to EBM Software!
Can you tell us a little more about yourself? (Where you are from, where did you go to school, any hobbies, etc.?)
I grew up in New Brighton, MN and went to college at St. John’s University, studying Accounting & Finance. My hobbies are golfing, skiing, and boating. I love living in Minnesota as it gives me the opportunity to pursue all three hobbies. That said, I need to get to Colorado or Utah at least once a year to satisfy my itch to ski real terrain.
Can you tell us a little bit more about your role?
I utilize EBM software’s next-generation BI tools (Catalyst, CatalystD, & Diligent) to support buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions for both private equity and investment bank clients. I also work in various FP&A roles for a number of privately held clients.
What’s the best piece of advice anyone has ever given to you?
Take pride in yourself and your work but don’t take yourself too seriously.
Who is/are your role model(s)/ has influenced you the most?
My parents.
What is your favorite quote, movie, book, or song that truly resonates/motivated you? Why?
Being an avid golfer, Caddyshack is hands down the greatest movie of all-time. Godfather pt.I and pt.II, respectively, round out my top-3 favorite movies.
My favorite book is also The Godfather, but I really enjoy anything by Dan Brown as well. I’m eagerly anticipating the release of his new book next month.
What drew you to EBM Software and what are you looking forward to most about working here?
I was originally drawn to EBM Software and MGMT3D because I was looking for an opportunity to work in the M&A space. My career prior to this was accounting focused and I really wanted to be more on the finance side, specifically in M&A. My favorite thing about working in this space is that it is a faced-paced industry that requires constant flexibility and problem solving. Every day I get to work-with, and learn-from, incredibly bright and intelligent individuals that have allowed me to develop and fine-tune my finance skill-set at an accelerated rate.
